Dr. Anand Hiremath – Advisor

Dr. Anand Hiremath, a civil engineer who holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering in addition to a PhD on the “Development of integrated risk assessment framework for best practices in ship recycling”, is presently based in Bhavnagar, India where he works closely with selected yards to ensure compliance of the guidelines established by the Hong Kong Convention (HKC) for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships while simultaneously collaborating with SRIA, GMB, Ministry of Shipping, and other local organizations and government institutions.

He is also responsible for the continued development and implementation of GMS’s Responsible Ship Recycling Programme (GRSRP) is now qualified to guide and even assist vessel and yard owners alike, with the creation of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM), a very critical step of the recycling process that ensures the identification of hazardous materials onboard a vessel.
