Ανακύκλωση και Αναδάσωση – Μια δεύτερη ευκαιρία

 

Στον αγώνα για την αντιμετώπιση της κλιματικής αλλαγής, δεν πρέπει να λείψει κανείς.

Οι καταστροφικές πυρκαγιές που ζήσαμε αυτό το καλοκαίρι έχουν ευαισθητοποιήσει την κοινή γνώμη και έχουν ενεργοποιήσει πολίτες προερχόμενους από όλα τα κοινωνικά στρώματα σε ένα κοινό αγώνα για την σωτηρία του πλανήτη.

Σαφή ένδειξη αυτού του ενδιαφέροντος αποτελεί ο συνεχώς αυξανόμενος αριθμός πολιτών και επιχειρήσεων που δηλώνουν ενδιαφέρον να συμμετάσχουν στο πρόγραμμα ”ΣΥΜΜΕΤΕΧΩ” ΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΑ ΧΩΡΙΣ ΣΚΟΥΠΙΔΙΑ που έχει σαν στόχο την ριζική αναδιοργάνωση της κοινωνίας με γνώμονα την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος βάζοντας φρένο στην επερχόμενη οικολογική καταστροφή.

Ένα πρόγραμμα που έχει κατατεθεί από τον Τομέα Περιβάλλοντος και Οικολογίας του ΛΑΪΚΟΥ ΕΥΡΩΠΑΪΚΟΥ ΚΟΜΜΑΤΟΣ στη Βουλή των Ελλήνων με αριθμό πρωτοκόλλου 4773/11/ 2019 και οι κύριοι πυλώνες του όπως αναγράφονται αναλυτικά στις παραγράφους του προγράμματος, είναι η πλήρης αξιοποίηση των πλαστικών τα οποία ανακυκλώνονται αντί να καταλήγουν στις χωματερές, καθώς και με την επέκταση του προγράμματος σε στοχευμένα μέτρα για αναδάσωση των πληγεισών περιοχών της Ελλάδας.

Όλες οι δράσεις του προγράμματος διοργανώνονται και υλοποιούνται σε συνεργασία με αδειοδοτημένους βιομηχανικούς φορείς και επιστημονικά ιδρύματα της Ελλάδας και του εξωτερικού, αποβλέποντας σε άμεσα και μετρήσιμα αποτελέσματα.

Χάρη στην εθελοντική προσφορά και την έμπρακτη υποστήριξη ευαισθητοποιημένων κοινωνικών φορέων, το πρόγραμμα είναι κατά κύριο λόγο αυτοχρηματοδοτούμενο στηριζόμενο στις φιλικές προς το περιβάλλον επιλογές που γίνονται από τους καλά ενημερωμένους καταναλωτές και επιχειρήσεις και τους κατάλληλα εκπαιδευμένους εθελοντές.

Η μεγάλη απήχηση του προγράμματος έχει οδηγήσει σε αποτελέσματα τα οποία υπό κανονικές συνθήκες θα απαιτούσαν σημαντικά επενδυτικά κεφάλαια για να πραγματοποιηθούν.

Με τον τρόπο αυτό, αντί να γίνονται δαπάνες, δημιουργούνται έσοδα μέσω ανταποδοτικών κινήτρων για όλους όσους συμμετέχουν ενεργά στο πρόγραμμα.

Το αίσθημα ικανοποίησης των συμμετεχόντων στο πρόγραμμα έχει πέρα από την ωφέλεια για το περιβάλλον, θετικές κοινωνικές επιδράσεις.

 

Στάδιο 1ο: Συγκέντρωση πλαστικών με ανταποδοτικά κίνητρα

Σύμφωνα με τους υπολογισμούς του Ινστιτούτου, υπάρχει μεγάλη ζήτηση στην αγορά για ανακυκλώσιμο πλαστικό κατάλληλο για την κατασκευή προϊόντων.

Οι πλαστικές φιάλες αλλά και όλα τα πλαστικά είδη που συγκεντρώνονται, συνδέονται με ανταποδοτικά κίνητρα υπολογιζόμενα ανά κιλό. 

Πως γίνεται αυτό? 

Ο ενδιαφερόμενος κατεβάζει μέσω Google play στο κινητό του την ψηφιακή εφαρμογή του Ινστιτούτου με την ονομασία ”CEEII Recycle & Reward” όπου εκεί καταγράφονται όλα τα κιλά που μαζεύει, καθώς και οι πόντοι που συλλέγει.

Μόλις συγκεντρώσει τα πλαστικά απορρίμματα, επικοινωνεί με το αρμόδιο Τμήμα του προγράμματος και πηγαίνουμε στο χώρο τους, ζυγίζονται και καταχωρούνται αμέσως οι πόντους του στην εφαρμογή του κινητού του.

Οι πόντοι αυτοί ανταλλάσσονται με προϊόντα που ενδιαφέρουν τον καταναλωτή, δίνοντας κίνητρο στον ίδιο να ανακυκλώνει και να ανταμείβεται.

Η ψηφιακή εφαρμογή είναι διαθέσιμη σε iOS & Android και λειτουργεί σε όλο τον κόσμο και υπάρχει δέσμευση από πλευράς του Ινστιτούτου για πλήρη ενημέρωση των αποτελεσμάτων των δράσεων και για τα προγράμματα αναδάσωσης και ανακύκλωσης των πλαστικών, καθώς και την ακριβή αποτύπωση των κιλών και την ποιότητα του πλαστικού που συγκεντρώθηκε, όπως και την αποτύπωση του πόσου διοξειδίου του άνθρακα αποφύγαμε  από το να επιβαρυνθεί ο πλανήτης και πόσα κυβικά μέτρα σκουπιδιών αποφύγαμε να καταλήξουν στις χωματερές.

Για τα άτομα που ενδιαφέρονται να δουν τον τρόπο που λειτουργεί η ψηφιακή εφαρμογή, παρέχεται πλήρης ηλεκτρονική ενημέρωση, σκανάροντας το QR Barcode  που βρίσκεται τυπωμένο στην ετικέτα κάθε προϊόντος.

 

Στάδιο 2ο: Αναδάσωση μέσα από το εμφιαλωμένο πόσιμο νερό και πολλά προϊόντα ευρείας κατανάλωσης

Εμφιαλωμένο πόσιμο νερό από Ελληνικές πηγές που είναι γνωστές για την άριστη ποιότητά τους χρησιμοποιείται προς κατανάλωση, φέροντας την ετικέτα του προγράμματος ”ΣΥΜΜΕΤΕΧΩ” ΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΑ ΧΩΡΙΣ ΣΚΟΥΠΙΔΙΑ.

Η επιλογή κάθε προϊόντος δίνει την δυνατότητα χρηματοδότησης προγραμμάτων αναδάσωσης πληγεισών περιοχών, δίνει ζωή στα καμένα εδάφη με την φύτευση των νέων φυτών και συμβάλλουμε στην προστασία του περιβάλλοντος παρεμβαίνοντας θετικά στην κλιματική αλλαγή.

Στάδιο 3ο: Η κοινωνική διάσταση του προγράμματος

Για τους ενδιαφερόμενους που θα ήθελαν περισσότερες πληροφορίες, θα υπάρξει δυνατότητα διοργάνωσης σεμιναρίων από τις ομάδες των εθελοντών που θα έχουν τεχνικό περιεχόμενο σχετικά με τα στάδια ανακύκλωσης των πλαστικών είτε θα σχετίζονται με τον τρόπο που οι δράσεις αυτές επηρεάζουν την κλιματική αλλαγή.

Έτσι οι ενδιαφερόμενοι θα μπορούν να έχουν μια γενική εικόνα και ένα ποσοτικά προσδιορισμένο απολογισμό της ωφέλειας που προέκυψε για την κοινωνία και το περιβάλλον από την προσφορά τους, πέρα από την καθαρά οικονομική ενίσχυση του ταμείου τους.

Ο παιδαγωγικός χαρακτήρας των δράσεων έχει σαν σκοπό να πείσει τους συμμετέχοντες ότι δεν χρειάζεται να καταβληθούν μεγάλες προσπάθειες για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος, πολύ δε περισσότερο όταν οι προσπάθειες αυτές έχουν ανταποδοτικό χαρακτήρα.

Ταυτόχρονα εδραιώνεται το αίσθημα του καθενός σε ατομικό επίπεδο σχετικά με την δύναμη που έχουν οι επιλογές του σαν απλού καταναλωτή. Είναι η δύναμη αυτή που αποτελεί μοναδική λύση, αφού αποδεικνύεται ότι οι πολιτικές ηγεσίες και οι μεγάλες βιομηχανίες αδυνατούν να πάρουν την κοινωνική τους ευθύνη και να βάλουν φρένο στην συνεχιζόμενη καταστροφή.

Το μόνο που έχει να κάνει στην περίπτωση αυτή είναι να επιλέξει πόσιμο νερό άριστης ποιότητας με το ίδιο κόστος της αγοράς και τα προϊόντα με την ετικέτα του προγράμματος ”ΣΥΜΜΕΤΕΧΩ” ΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΑ ΧΩΡΙΣ ΣΚΟΥΠΙΔΙΑ, κερδίζοντας από την ανταποδοτική ανακύκλωση, συνεισφέροντας στην δενδροφύτευση της χώρας του και αποκτώντας γνώσεις και εφόδια που μπορεί να του δώσουν ένα ισχυρό κίνητρο για μια νέα σταδιοδρομία στην ζωή του.

Support “GREEKS DO RECYCLING”

Greece is dealing with a waste catastrophe.

Falling far short of the European Union average where some countries reach 70 percent, Greece is recycling only 16 percent of its waste despite a proliferation of bins next to trash dumpsters.

Burying trash in landfills – cited repeatedly for violations by the EU – accounts for a staggering 80 percent of urban waste management in the country.

Instead of building sustainable solutions to address the crisis, the previous government defaulted to ‘a quick fix’ by adding new landfills. This is causing deadly threats to our environment and public health. 

Another important piece of the puzzle: Greece has become the refugees’ first gate entry into the EU. Between January and August 2015, over 271,000 migrants were smuggled by sea or land to Greece. Most of them without jobs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The project is to build a zero-emission recycling collection service with rewards for the citizens, produce new products from the recyclables, while employing people below the poverty line, both refugees and Greeks  

  1. An app where, with just a few taps, citizens can request a pick-up for their recyclables.
  2. A driver on an e-bike will be at their door within 30 minutes to collect the bags and drop them at local recycling centers.   
  3. Reward for the citizens who manage to reach their recycling goal
  4. The recycling center produces new products from the recyclables

CEEII RECYCLING OF PLASTICS

Modern life is unthinkable without plastic, but there’s a catch. Some of the properties that make it so useful, like its low cost, light weight and durability, also make it hard to dispose of.

In the EU, instead of recycling all our plastic waste, we send a third of it straight to landfill. That’s a waste of resources, and a waste of energy.

To make things worse, millions of tonnes of this waste end up in the oceans. Birds, turtles and sealife get tangled in plastic bags and abandoned fishing equipment, or they die from eating plastic debris. Over time, larger pieces of plastic break down into tiny particles called microplastic, which can form a sort of plastic soup. These particles can soak up chemical additives and endocrine disruptors, and when they are eaten and enter the food chain, they can end up on our plates.

It’s a large-scale problem, and it needs a global response. Part of the answer can be found in the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN, which include a target to prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, including marine litter.

But the EU is also acting on the problem, and the Circular Economy Action Package adopted in December 2015 makes plastics a priority.

Plastic waste already needed to be collected separately, but the Package proposes raising the recycling target for plastic packaging to 55%, and reducing landfilling to no more than 10% by 2030.

A new dedicated plastics strategy is also being prepared, to help Europe improve recycling, cut marine litter, and remove potentially dangerous chemicals. The Commission published the roadmap of the Communication on Plastics in a Circular Economy (including action on marine litter) on January 2017.

It’s the first comprehensive policy response to the plastic challenge, tackling design, manufacturing, use and disposal – a truly strategic approach.

“The role of plastic waste in a circular economy” 

The Commission’s Green Paper on plastic waste in the environment, published on 7 March 2013, has attracted great interest with over 270 replies from public authorities, NGOs, industry and other stakeholders.

Plastic waste has started to attract increased public attention, notably due to a growing number of reports about marine litter. An estimated amount of more than 100.000 t, mostly so-called micro-plastics, is floating in the world’s oceans. This is a great concern in particular since plastic and POPs concentrated on the surface of micro-plastics could enter the food chain. The potential environmental effects of this phenomenon are only beginning to be fully understood. 

Despite these concerns, apart from the general provisions in the EU Waste Framework Directive, no specific EU legislation addresses plastic waste in a strategic way. In the light of the EU’s policy objective of achieving a resource efficient recycling society it is hard to accept that in Europe we still landfill nearly 50% of plastic waste. On average nearly 80% of plastic in the marine environment is estimated to be coming from land.

Stepping up plastic waste prevention, preparation for re-use, recycling and separate plastic waste collection, as well as improving plastic design and plastic product design are all essential contributors  to help achieve ‘zero plastic to landfill’ and move to  a circular economy. Plastic products and plastic waste are two sides of the same coin and recycling already starts in the product design phase. Designers need to be involved in the reflection on the entire life cycle of products including the waste phase. All actors designing, producing, using and disposing of plastic products and handling plastic waste will have to contribute to a less wasteful economy.

The conference brings together high-level experts from very different angles who will help to get a more complete picture on how to adjust the present resource inefficient management of plastic waste and advance towards a more circular economy. The conference will be a platform for lively debates and the sharing of insights into the best possible way forward to address plastic and plastic waste in the future.
