ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND CREATIVITY-VOLUNTEER WORK

Panagiotis was elected President of the Velanidiotes Society Myrtidiotissa for a period of 6 years.
Under his Presidency the Society was very active and worked closely with universities, cultural foundations, N.G.Os, local government and other bodies. He succeeded in having the Lighthouse of Cape Malea and the German Naval Observatory placed on the list of designated historical and listed monuments. An international Symposium entitled “From the Homeric to the Modern Landscape” was held in Monemvasia on April 30 and May 1 2011. It was jointly organized by the Velanidiotes Society, the Centre for Spartan and Peloponnesian Studies (University of Nottingham, and the Municipality of Monemvasia in collaboration with the Mediterranean Institute for Nature and Anthropos (Med-ina). The symposium was placed under the auspices of the region of the Peloponnese and focused on the preservation of the natural and cultural landscape of Cape Malea Peninsula.
Panagiotis is cognizant of the fact that environment, cultural and underwater heritage management is quite a challenge. In order to achieve results relatively quickly, you need to try hard, stay focused and love what you are doing.
He is married to Irakleia Schoina and they have one child named John.
